Ben Kay is a former professional rugby player renowned for his exceptional loyalty and dedication to the game. Starting his rugby journey at the age of 5 with Waterloo Under 9’s, Ben’s commitment to his hometown club was evident from an early stage, despite offers from larger clubs.

Ben’s professional career truly flourished when he joined Leicester Tigers in 1999, the same year as the Rugby World Cup. His arrival at the club coincided with Leicester lifting the Premiership title, and Ben quickly established himself as a key player. He earned his first England cap the following season against Canada, solidifying his place in the national team and forming a formidable second-row partnership with Martin Johnson for both club and country.
Ben’s career reached new heights in 2003 when he helped England achieve a Grand Slam in the Six Nations, secured England’s first-ever test victory in Australia, and triumphed in an away win over the All Blacks. Ben’s leadership and contributions were pivotal, and he was honoured with an MBE by the Queen for services to rugby.
A stalwart of the game, Ben continued to excel with Leicester Tigers, playing in every match of the 2007 Rugby World Cup and featuring in an incredible 35 out of 36 games during the 2008/09 season.
