David’s rugby journey began at just eight years old at his local club, Maidstone FC. His talent was evident early on, leading to representative honours with England Schools (1997) and England Colts (1998). He went on to feature for London & South-West and England Under-21s, facing South Africa in 1998.

His senior club career kicked off with Saracens in 1998, and he earned his first full England cap in 2000, coming on as a replacement during the summer tour of South Africa. He continued to impress on the international stage, touring North America with England in 2001, making key appearances against Canada and the USA.

A pivotal moment in his career came in 2003, when David moved to Bath Rugby, cementing his status as one of the finest front-row forwards in English rugby. His powerful performances played a crucial role in Bath’s resurgence as a dominant force in the Premiership.
