Lee Byrne

Began his career playing for Bridgend Athletic, then for Tondu RFC, Bridgend, Llanelli, The Scarletts and full back for the Ospreys.

Lee’s rugby journey began at Bridgend Athletic before he progressed through the ranks at Tondu RFC, Bridgend, Llanelli, and the Scarlets, eventually establishing himself as a key full-back for the Ospreys.

His talent was evident from a young age, earning him a cap for the Welsh Schools team. He made his senior international debut in 2005, and by 2008, he was selected for Warren Gatland’s Grand Slam-winning squad, playing a crucial role in every match of the historic campaign. His standout performance came against Italy, where he scored two tries and was named Man of the Match.

At club level, Lee was instrumental in the Ospreys’ triumph in the 2007/08 EDF Energy Cup, playing a key role in their domestic success. He remained a regular in the squad throughout the 2008/09 season, showcasing his consistency and skill at the highest level of the game.
