Geordan Murphy
Joining Leicester Tigers in 1997, Geordan played top-flight rugby for an impressive sixteen seasons. Initially competing with fullback Tim Stimpson for a spot, Geordan found his stride as right wing, helping secure back-to-back Heineken Cup victories in 2001 and 2002. His outstanding performances in the 2001/2002 season saw him finish as the squad’s top try scorer.
As Geordan matured as a player, he transitioned into the fullback role, where his leadership and ability to control the game shone through. This new position also saw him take on the captaincy of Leicester Tigers, including during the 2008/2009 season, where he led the team to Premiership glory and a Heineken Cup final.
In May 2012, Geordan retired from international rugby, leaving behind a legacy of consistent performances and a career brimming with success. A year later, in May 2013, he called time on his competitive playing career and transitioned to a coaching role with Leicester Tigers.
