Scott Hastings is Scotland’s most capped centre three-quarter, with an impressive 65 international caps. He made history alongside his brother Gavin, as the only brothers to play together in a British & Irish Lions Test match. Scott’s rugby journey began at George Watson’s College in Edinburgh, where he captained the Scottish Schools team before earning his first Scotland cap in January 1986 at just 21 years old against France.

An ever-present figure in the Scotland rugby team, Scott’s leadership shone through as he captained the Barbarians against the 1993 All Blacks and led Scotland’s 7-a-side rugby team. He represented Scotland in four Rugby World Cups (1987, 1991, 1995), playing in 10 of Scotland’s 14 World Cup matches.
Scott’s career also saw him play a key role in the 1989 British & Irish Lions tour to Australia, participating in 9 of the 11 matches, including the victorious final two Test matches. His 1993 Lions tour to New Zealand was cut short due to a facial injury sustained just before the first Test.
After retiring from professional rugby in 1999, Scott transitioned to a successful career in media, commentating for Scottish Television’s Rugby Roundup and covering international matches, including Scotland vs. the Barbarians in 2001.
